Be part of the expanding field of health, chronic disease prevention, physical activity promotion, community wellness, sport performance and sport and exercise science.

The Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management at Manitoba university offers four degree programs that have a base of shared core courses to ensure students experience the interconnections across the faculty and its related fields of practice.

In the Bachelor of Kinesiology fieldwork placement, students learn to apply in-class knowledge and learn new concepts of professional practice in kinesiology.

Language pathway (conditional offer) is available

The English Language Centre (ELC) at the University of Manitoba (UM) offers the full-time Intensive Academic English Program (IAEP). 

If the student does not meet the English Language Proficiency requirement for their program of interest, the student can take advantage of this program to obtain the Academic English language skills needed to complete a degree.

If you have already achieved one of these minimum test scores, you may be eligible to enter Level 5 of the IAEP directly:

  • 5.5 (Academic) or higher in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
  • 5.5 (Academic) or higher in the International English Language Testing System Indicator (IELTS Indicator) for Spring/Summer and Fall 2021 applications
  • Minimum 16 in each component and 70 overall on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
  • 3.5 Listening, 3.5 Reading and 3.5 Writing in the Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees (CanTEST)*
  • 50 or higher in the Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL)
  • Duolingo English Test (95 and above) for Spring/Summer and Fall 2021 applications

Academic background and requirement

A minimum 85% average over the following, with no less than 60% in each course: 

  • English
  • Applied Math or Pre-Calculus
  • One of Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Computer Science
