The program in computer engineering has a core-plus-elective structure.
The core includes fundamental professional courses focused on digital hardware, digital systems design, software engineering, algorithms, electronics and communications, as well as developing a necessary foundation in mathematics, computer programming, electric circuits, the physical sciences and thermodynamics.

The English Language Centre (ELC) at the University of Manitoba (UM) offers the full-time Intensive Academic English Program (IAEP).
If the student does not meet the English Language Proficiency requirement for their program of interest, the student can take advantage of this program to obtain the Academic English language skills needed to complete a degree.
