They are employed in some industries to analyse food supply, government policy, and eating behaviours and to develop new ways to promote healthy lifestyle choices and prevent diet-related diseases within communities.
Nutritionists can apply their expert knowledge to several nutrition services but are not qualified to provide medical nutrition therapy to individuals or groups in hospitals or other clinical environments.
