The discipline applies engineering and scientific methods to solve medical and life sciences problems.
Medical engineering at QUT integrates engineering principles with human physiology to design, manufacture, install, monitor and maintain medical and surgical equipment.
Medical engineers are responsible for the safe and effective operation of equipment such as monitoring, diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment ranging from CT scanners to kidney dialysis machines.
Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is embedded in the curriculum and is a core component for all engineering students.
WIL allows you to graduate with a portfolio of professional skills that provides evidence of your professional competencies.
You must undertake 60 days of approved work experience in the engineering environment as part of your work-integrated learning.
