Overview

Bachelor of Science Advanced (Honours) (Biological Sciences)

In this new, embedded honours-specialised course, you will study alongside a small cohort of high-achieving fellow science enthusiasts for four years.

You'll be immersed in real-world research from your first year in authentic research environments with leading QUT researchers and projects.

Specialising in Biological Sciences, you will study living things and how they evolved: animals, insects, plants, and microorganisms; everything that breathes, grows and feeds us.

Biologists are curious about all these things and want to know how they work, how to grow and protect them—and how to get involved with life on this planet.

Biologists love a challenge. How will we feed a population of eight billion people in 2025? Can we use biological waste to solve our energy crisis?

How can we protect our plants and animals from exotic diseases? How do we conserve ecosystems and biodiversity?

Real-world learning

Research is the science practice, and this course has been designed to give you access to authentic research environments.

You will use state-of-the-art research facilities from your first year in cutting-edge research contexts.

You will have opportunities to undertake embedded WIL experiences or internships throughout your studies, engaging with research groups, industry partners and translational research.
