Overview

Bachelor of Games and Interactive Environments (Animation)

The Bachelor of Games and Interactive Environments (Animation) degree at QUT gives you practical skills in motion graphics, 3D modelling and animation. 

You will acquire underlying conceptual knowledge of animation and develop the professional skills to work effectively in the animation industry.

You will develop a depth of understanding in the animation discipline and be able to apply creative, critical and reflective practice and multi-disciplinary theory to game design and development problem-solving processes. 

You'll develop the skills to apply modelling and abstraction techniques within complex game animation domains.

You will gain experience in the whole process of the game and interactive media development:

From identification and evaluation of ideas, creation of design concepts, critique of existing and potential products, and analysis of the cultural impact and industry trends to developing and delivering a final product.

You learn and apply current and emerging techniques within the animation industry, including motion graphics, 3D modelling and animation, real-time 3D and character animation. 

Through practice-based projects, you can refine your skills and expand your knowledge of the animation industry.

Academic background and requirement

Assumed knowledge: 

A pass in Australian Year 12 or equivalent

  • General Mathematics, or Mathematical Methods, or Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C)

 

India:

  • Senior/Higher Secondary School Certificate/Pre-University certificate from QUT-recognised state education boards with an overall average of 75% in the best five academic subjects.
  • Indian School Certificate academic stream awarded by CISCE with an overall average of 60% in the best five academic subjects.
  • All India Senior School Certificate academic stream awarded by CBSE with an overall average of 60% in the best five academic subjects.

China: 

  • GAOKAO 60% in best 4 academic subjects.
     

Iran:

  • Before 2020: Pre-University Certificate with a grade average of 15 on a 20-point scale.
  • From 2020: National High School Diploma/Secondary School Leaving Certificate with a grade average of 15 on a 20-point scale in the final year (Grade 12).
