PPE brings together three disciplines, giving students insight into the meaning of citizenship, how government works, the nature of justice, and the outcomes of economic systems and policies.

Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Mount Allison University is the only PPE program in Canada east of Ontario and one of only three in the country.

It helps students develop critical-thinking skills that will serve them well no matter their chosen career. 

It offers students the opportunity for a multidisciplinary immersion in the problems that structure the human world.

At Mount Allison, the multidisciplinary PPE program courses are drawn from established courses in all three disciplines, with special topics courses offered in upper years.

In Philosophy, you'll cultivate a broad view of human experience and values by examining concepts like:

• how can we know the world
• the nature of justice
• our responsibility to others

In Politics, you'll gain insight into:

• the workings of government
• the meaning of citizenship
• how society, economy, and culture shape the political community

In Economics, you will look at:

• the development of modern economies
• the evolution of economic systems
• the outcomes of economic policies
• the economic consequences of participation in trade, exchange, or employment

Most of the required courses for the program are at the first and second-year level, giving you greater flexibility in your upper years to tailor your courses to your interests.

Regular admission: To be considered for admission, a minimum final grade of 65% or the equivalent is required in all university-preparatory courses reviewed.

Early admission: Applicants may be considered for early admission based on their final grade 11 transcripts. A minimum admissions average of 80% is required for consideration.

China requirements:

• Senior Middle School Graduation Certificate
• High school studies should be university preparatory (not vocational)
• A minimum of 70 per cent in five courses, including English

Students studying at vocational/technical high schools may be considered if they have strong grades and their educational background is relevant to their intended field of study.

India requirements:

• Acceptable documents:
  • Higher Secondary Certificate Examinations (HSC)
  • Senior School Certificate Examinations (CBSE)
  • Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (ISC board)
• Minimum scores of 55 per cent in all courses taken
• Typically only four courses are taken/available to be taken
• Transfer students: minimum CGPA 2.0/4.0

Iran requirements:

• Certificate of Completion of Secondary Study
• Complete university preparation year (Grade 12)
• Scores of 12/20 or C in English and four other courses
